Questions before you book

What will I pay on the day?

US$40 per adult or US$25 per child when you board the bus, for the Tulum site, Parque del Jaguar, cenote park and government fees (per the operator). Drinks at lunch and tips are extra too. Mexican visitors with an INE ID pay reduced fees; the amount isn't stated.

Will I definitely swim with turtles?

You'll snorkel for about an hour at Akumal with a guide. The listing doesn't promise a sighting. These are wild animals, and the official rules limit you to 5 minutes with any one turtle, with no touching or chasing.

What do I need for the turtle snorkel?

Life jackets are included; a life jacket, mask, snorkel and short fins are mandatory under the official rules. Bring biodegradable sunscreen only, since anything else is prohibited in Akumal Bay.

Is it OK for young children?

Not for children under 2, per the listing. Children pay US$25 in fees at boarding; the listing doesn't say what age counts as a child.

How long is the bus ride?

About 1.5 h from pickup to Tulum, then 30 and 45 min between stops, per the listing's itinerary. The return time isn't given.

Ruins and turtles, or cenotes only?

If you'd rather spend the day in cenotes with no fees on the day, the 3 cenotes small-group tour (from US$169, max 10) includes all entrance fees, but pickup from Cancún costs US$40–60 extra.
